The Marmot Mountain Works Berkeley, California store was opened in the fall of 1976. It is a “classic” mountain specialty shop of the type which is getting harder and harder to find. We hand pick all of the products in the store, test what we choose, and use what we sell. Our knowledgeable sales people, buyers, and managers, are avid outdoors people with wide ranging interests that include rock climbing, ice climbing, mountaineering, skiing, backpacking, hiking. We are proud to carry a very wide selection of the highest quality products from the best-known and most trusted manufacturers of outdoor equipment. We also are known for stocking the esoteric, yet functional, harder to find items. We don't just carry Marmot products. We also stock the best equipment available from Arcteryx, Patagonia and others. While we carry a complete selection of outdoor clothing, we specialize in technical hard goods, and our selection is impressive. Whatever you need we are likely to have, and if we don't, we are happy to get it for you. Providing individualized service is one of our highest priorities. We have an on site rock shoe and sandal resoling service, which is considered among the best in the country.
